Participants will choose from beginner to advanced projects, including audio-visual cubes, wall shelves, furniture, and more. All projects will involve measuring, cutting, drilling, sanding, and nailing. Campers will learn the proper use of tools, and then will use them under the close supervision of our woodshop director, Warner “Woody” Wood, who has been teaching woodworking for over a decade. Each day our young carpenters will receive handouts explaining various tools that will be used, as well as woodworking methods and practices. At the end of the week, campers will be able to bring their projects home and show them off with pride. No experience is necessary – just a willingness to learn and have fun. Very experienced? Circus Arts

Simply Circus Staff

At Simply Circus we pride ourselves on providing some of the best training in circus arts available today. All of our staff are highly trained circus artists, with many having performed with such notable troupes as Ringling Brothers, Aga Boom, and Cirque. More importantly, all of our staff are highly trained as teachers and coaches of circus arts. Our staff prides themselves on being able to teach not only the physical skills, but also the various theories that are associated with them.

Our Program

If it was easy, it wouldn’t be much fun – and we like to have fun! No matter what skills you have coming in to camp, we will challenge you to learn a variety of new skills, and to take your existing skills as far as you can. You will work harder than you have every worked before, and experience a summer like none you have ever had before.

Our day is broken into a series of skills classes, with each class focused on a specific circus art. Students will have the opportunity to learn acrobatic arts such as tumbling and hoop diving; equilibristic arts such as stilt walking, unicycle riding and wire walking; manipulative arts such as juggling and diabolo; aerial arts such as static trapeze and aerial silks; and drama arts such as stage presence, clowning, and physical comedy.

At the end of each two-week session comes the show, and the pay off for all of the hard work and dedication. Circus arts campers produce a full 45 minute show where they share their newfound skills with other campers, family, and friends.

Circus arts campers should wear a unitard or biketard and bring a bathing suit, towel, water bottle, and change of clothes everyday. Each camper will also receive a detailed handbook allowing them to continue practicing their skills outside of camp.
