Location

Concord Academy Summer Camp is located in historic downtown Concord, Massachusetts, on the campus of Concord Academy, an independent college preparatory school for grades 9 through 12. Chartered in 1922, the school enrolls approximately 365 boarding and day students from more than ten countries and twenty-three states. Concord Academy Summer Camp mirrors the mission of CA: a community animated by a love for learning, enriched by a diversity of backgrounds and perspectives, and guided by a covenant of common trust.

Outstanding Facilities

Concord Academy Summer Camp is fortunate to have access to all of CA’s first class facilities, providing campers with an extensive array of activities, rain or shine. The campus abuts the Sudbury River, where campers learn to canoe and kayak. There are full-sized sports fields as well as the campus quad, Chapel lawn, and six tennis courts for all sorts of games and sports. Indoors there are two gymnasiums, a wrestling room, and four squash courts, meaning the action does not stop when it rains or is too hot to be outside. A 2,500-square-foot dance studio and a 400-seat theatre are used for dance, drama, music, and all camp events. The camp also has use of three visual arts studios, a full ceramics studio, computer labs, classrooms, a woodshop, and conference rooms for group activities. All campers also eat hot lunch everyday in a spacious, air-conditioned dining hall.

Extended Day

CASC offers an extended day program for our camp families before and after regular camp hours. Extended AM is from 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. Extended PM is from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Both morning and afternoon extended day will consist of organized activities. Afternoon care also includes a snack and an optional free swim. Families can register for an extended day program on a daily or weekly basis. Extended Day sign-up forms will be sent to registered camp families in early spring 2008.

Lunch and Snack

Each day, CASC will provide a well-balanced hot lunch with many choices in our air-conditioned dining hall. All campers will also receive a morning snack and juice.

Special Events

At CASC every week has a special and unique theme. These themes may vary from year to year but are always central to Concord Academy and CASC’s mission and principles. Weekly events add education and variety to a camper’s experience and help us incorporate the week’s theme into camp activities. On “Wacky Wednesdays”, campers and counselors dress up according the theme of the week. Major special events end the week on a high note every Friday afternoon. Some examples of previous Special Events include Carnival, Olympics, Ocean Explorations, The World Around Us, and Lip-Sync. Our fifth and sixth grade groups will have the opportunity to participate in a special “after camp” activity several times throughout the summer. Other special events may include field trips off campus and outside (educational or performance) groups visiting CA. Some of these extra-camp activities may have additional costs associated with them; some are included in the camp tuition. Most Specialty Camps will not participate in the Special Events, or will only participate in an abbreviated portion of them.

Health and Medical Information

Massachusetts State Law requires Concord Academy Summer Camp to have a copy of each camper’s current record of immunizations and physical. No child may attend camp without the proper health forms. By June 1, 2008, CASC must have physical form (within the last twelve months), a copy of an immunization record, and a Concord Academy health form on file for each camper. There is a registered nurse on site at CA during camp hours. All of our head counselors and many additional staff are certified in CPR and first aid and are epi-pen-trained.

Financial Assistance

Limited financial aid is available based on demonstrated family need. Please call the camp office for more information or to request an application. All financial aid applications must be retuned, in their entirety, to Concord Academy by April 15, 2008.

Please consider making a donation to our Campership Fund. Any amount will directly help a family in need of financial assistance. Upon receipt of donation, we will mail you a receipt for your tax purposes. Thank you in advance for anything you do to help all campers experience the magic of camp!

Registration Process

Registrations for all programs are processed on a first-come first-served basis in the order they are received. A non-refundable deposit of $50 per week for each camper must accompany the completed registration form, along with any transportation fees, which must be paid in full. The remaining balance for all campers is due on or before May 1, 2008. If the balance is not paid, a camper’s registration will be cancelled. After May 1, 2008, all new registrations must be paid in full.

Change/Cancellation Policy

A refund or credit, minus the non-refundable $50 per week deposit, will be given for any changes or cancellations made in writing before June 1, 2008. After June 1, 2008, no refunds will be made, with the exception of illness. A written request along with a doctor’s note stating that camp is medically inadvisable must be submitted in order to receive a refund or credit, less any deposits. The $50 per week deposit is non-refundable and cannot be transferred to sessions for which a balance is still owed. No refunds or credits will be made for a camper who attends only part of a session for any reason. Due to bus planning, all transportation fees are non-refundable. All refunds are made at the close of camp in August.
