Choices are an important part of a Concord Academy Summer Camper’s day. All campers have the opportunity to customize their camp experience by choosing activities they wish to participate in. CASC Specialty Campers will get one choice block throughout the day, while Kiddie Campers will get two, and Day Campers four or five. Choices typically include team sports, tennis, nature exploration, ceramics, arts and crafts, dance, outdoor adventure, woodworking, archery, canoeing, music, and more. We believe strongly that allowing our campers to make choices helps them to express their individuality, develop confidence, try new experiences when they are ready, and learn decision-making skills. CASC counselors encourage campers to try new activities throughout their time at camp.

Swimming
CASC offers outstanding swim instruction for all Kiddie and Day Campers. Under the supervision of our Red Cross certified swim staff, our aquatics program provides a safe, supportive, and encouraging atmosphere for children. Daily swim lessons for Kiddie and Day Campers teach safe habits in the water and help campers develop confidence in their swimming ability. We provide families with weekly updates on the swimming progress of their child. All campers, traditional and specialty, can also choose a free swim in the afternoons.

Sports

Team Sports
Scoring a goal, making an assist, hitting a home run, completing a pass – these can be exciting moments in a child’s development. At Concord Academy Summer Camp, children experience the fun of being part of a team while mastering athletic skills that build their confidence and help them stay fit for life. Skill development and teamwork are integral parts of all of our sports programs. We use Concord Academy’s state-of-the-art athletic facilities and equipment, centered in a recently renovated sports, health, and dance center. Campers play soccer, softball, lacrosse, basketball, volleyball, and other team sports under the guidance of our experienced athletic staff.

Tennis
Racquet sports can be learned as a child and played forever. All campers are exposed to a progressive tennis program based on a developmental approach to instruction. This program integrates drills and fun games on a daily basis. Using age-appropriate equipment and courts, we seek to build skills and a love of the game that can last a lifetime.
Archery
Bullseye! A favorite among campers, archery instruction begins with the first-grade program and includes instruction for all levels. Campers learn safety and the skills of the sport from a certified instructor, using our top-notch equipment.
Creative ARTS
Crafts
CASC offers a variety of arts and crafts projects throughout our eight-week program. Many of the projects are coordinated with our weekly themes and all allow campers an opportunity to take home their personal creations. Past projects have included tie-dying, stamp making, paper making, collages, sun prints, dream catchers, jewelry making, and much, much more! New creative ideas are added each year.
Woodshop
Campers can develop their carpentry skills in a completely outfitted woodshop, headed by an experienced woodworker. With an emphasis on safety, we offer our campers a wide variety of kits to design and assemble. The projects vary in degree of difficulty from easy-to-make sailboats to more advanced race cars and jewelry boxes. Young carpenters may also choose to design an individualized project with the help of our woodworking specialist.

Ceramics
CASC has a fully-equipped ceramics studio with six pottery wheels and three kilns. With the help of experienced ceramics instructors, campers can create art with clay. They can choose from a variety of projects including pinch pots and animals, or design items of their own. They can also learn how to throw a pot on a wheel, glaze it, and fire it in the kiln.

Performing Arts
Campers of all ages have the opportunity to participate in a number of performing arts activities throughout the summer. They can rehearse and present original skits for their fellow campers in Concord Academy’s Performing Arts Center, attend a dance class in CA’s recently renovated dance studio, and practice group songs in the music rooms.

Outdoor Exploration
Nature
All campers are given the opportunity to enter the fascinating world of nature on and around the beautiful Concord Academy campus and up and down the banks of the Sudbury River. Groups can go on nature walks, learn about animals brought to our camp site, explore, and appreciate the world around them.
Outdoor Adventures
CASC groups learn to work together and make decisions and compromises while completing some challenging teambuilding initiatives. Self confidence, team spirit, and leadership are emphasized in a safe, caring environment.

Canoeing
Certified canoe instructors teach campers, first-grade and above, the ins and outs of canoeing and kayaking along the beautiful and serene Sudbury River. Groups explore the river discussing the fish, birds, and other wildlife they spot along the way.
